Who do you tell your secrets to?
For a large portion of my life, there was literally nobody I would share most of my secrets with. Shame was such a controlling force I could not imagine anyone loving me if they really knew me. I didn't think I could love anybody who could love what I believed myself to be. This is the miraculous power of a forgiving God. He directs His followers to love the unlovable, to remember our own former condition, to be His representatives on earth. Its work to find the church that observably fits this description, but it is well worth it. I sat in church for the better part of 2 years before I was able to open up to anyone completely and then it all came out in a flood. It was then that I could seek helpful counsel. Thank God for my brothers in Christ, Gary, Pat, Doug, Cliff and many others. It was Gary demonstrated God's love to me, with flesh on it. In other words, Gary related to me that God could love me by loving me with the love he'd learned from God. Yes, even me. I'm talking about that kind of love that makes you feel safe, even acceptable with your story fully revealed.
A Bible believing, Christ emulating church is one of those places that deals with everything that comes through the doors. Don't expect me to get into the gory details here, this is not a safe environment like that church was, nor is it the venue for spilling your vulnerabilities, but it is a venue for letting others know Who and what you recommend. I recommend everyone find a church which 1 believes the Bible is the infallible Word of God, 2 regularly studies its depths 3. encourages its members to put its teaching into daily practice. 4 attempts to meet each others needs. 5. reaches out to the local community to serve it 6 has a program for reaching people across the world for God. You cannot know how deep or how far reaching your influence can be for the betterment of society and the human condition if you can do this much. Investigate the faith, believe God, go to church, and give back.
If you were stranded on an island, what five books would you bring?
submitted by CJP1. The New American Standard version of the Bible complete with the Spirit Filled Life study helps.
2. The Exhaustive Concordance to match the New American Standard.
3. Foxxe's Book of Martyrs.
4. The complete works of William Shakespeare.
5. The Immortal Poems of the English Language
I would have to add plenty of writing paper and ink pens.
I have three vicarious mentors.
Pastor Jack Hayford
Talk Show Host and Author Dennis Prager
Professor and advocate of Christian principals: Dinesh DeSouza
All of whom are the clearest thinkers I know.
Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever seen one?
I don't believe in ghosts. I do believe in paranormal events. I believe that the spirits of people go to be with the Lord and that demons playact as the dead in order to wreak havoc on God's children. So, they may be kind to the person seeking the encounter as a loved one or family member, but their ultimate goal is to hurt as many people as they can or at the very least convince people not to believe in God. I don't remember having any experience that would qualify as a ghost, but I have been in some weird things like the ouija board and the levitation thing, but no floating furniture or wispy images or disembodied voices.
I don't recommend playing with any of these things. Its an invitation to a plague of harassing spirits.
Have you ever had a premonition about something that came true?
Submitted by Sheri.
No. I really wanted to know that experience, but I have had dreams that repeated for years and then came to mean something I believe to be messages from God. Usually long and involved, it would be difficult to explain what they were and how they were relevant to my life and purpose. They have proved invaluable for directing the course of my life to work toward the good of society. This is one of the main reasons I blog. Its an effort to give direction to anyone who'll listen...'er read what an old man has to contribute to the welfare of our culture.
In that vein, I'd like to explain why I chose the name for my blog that you see above. Judging has been condemned among the youth and pop culture of our society. These are people who do not think very deeply. If they would bother to scratch the surface of this thought theme, they'd begin to understand how ridiculous the statement, "You shouldn't judge people." really is. You shouldn't choose your friends? You shouldn't choose your country's leader? You shouldn't choose which religion to believe in or which leader in that religion to follow? You shouldn't choose where to work or what kind of work you should do? You shouldn't choose who or where you get your education from? Get real! Yet, when I used to spend hours in Yahoo Answers, I would be judged and condemned for expressing my opinion of certain askers and especially, answerers. I say again, they would condemn me for judging others.
We literally, could not survive if we didn't use our common sense, and judgment is part of this mental utility. When they quote Jesus to me, a Christian, to defend their stance on judgment, I am forced to go into a long, detailed explanation of the use of words, interpretation of languages, and the mis-application by several generations the latest of which is this pop culture. Perhaps a better word the interpreters should have used would be 'condemn' but until now the depth of thought was good enough to recognize the proper application in most people. So, I am waging war on the shallow thought. I invite you to judge whether this message and this messenger is worth hearing....'er, reading.
