The Audacity of Cons

Interesting stuff. I think the McCain campaign has avoided attacking a lot of Obama's personal past because that brings more of McCain's own into light, and neutralizes a lot of the points. McCain was born in Panama, and while the fact remains that he was born into a military family of american citizens working abroad the information put forth about Obama may not be particularly productive, and the rule of equal coverage means that his own skeletons such as his divorce and minor act of treason after being tortured come into the limelight. I'm not saying these are heinous things that should exclude him from being president, their his own personal trials and shouldn't effect his campaign any more than certain aspects of Obama's life should.

Now, I'm sure you're going to counter with the obvious statement that the people need to know these things to understand the type of person he is and where his loyalties lie. And I'll agree with you, he has family in Kenya, so what does that mean if he becomes president? I've speculated before that he may utilize the SOP of the American foreign policy to install and fund leaders with American sympathies in Africa. Africa has a lot of oil but it's hard to get because of the instability there, powerful well funded leaders (warlords) could stabilize the region enough to safely bring in oil interests. This would shift energy reliance away from the middle east and perhaps give Iran and Israel the opportunity to quiet down a little bit.

This is all speculation, but it makes more than a little sense. Now, whether or not you believe this path is good for America or not is up to you. I can't say either way, but I do know that the only way to rule any part of Africa is from on-top of a pile of bodies.

You want to know about character?

Just a quick note; Affiliations with radical elements, America haters and Muslim extremists. Radical policies aimed at hurting American rights and interests. Kenya is 40% Muslim, 50? Christian and 10% everything else. This run for presidency by Odinga was a bid for Muslim rule and the implementation of Sharia law. Obama was campaigning for Odinga to become the Muslim president of Kenya.
Toe-Knee, I don't even need the shadow of a doubt concerning Obama's birth certificate, or his affiliations with shady characters and America haters to know Obama is dangerous for our country. Those things are important, but even without those curiosities, I know where Obama comes from on a personal level. I lived a good part of my life on the south side of Chicago, and I was married to a man whose father was speaker of the house. I lived 10 minutes away from the Trinity United Church, and I am well versed in the mentality of the region concerning political views, and the corruption that is overlooked, or embraced. I could go on and on, but let me say I worked hard to leave that terrible place because of this. Obama was spoon fed the politics of this region, and raised up to be "the chosen one". I don't know if you were able to watch the Saddleback forum, but it is clear Obama is just realizing that he is no longer safe in the cocoon of the Chicago south side, and he cannot make a definitive decision regarding matters of complexity because it causes too many conflicts within his mind. You see, he thought he was the "enlightened one", and he was promised such great things, and so much support. Obama actually thought he had the answers, and "the answers" were to regurgitate everything he had been fed, and preened with by the south side machine. Only now, he realizes that in order to answer the questions with conviction, he must have firm convictions, not the canned solutions and ideology of the political (liberal) machine. Every problem has multiple angles, and Obama cannot determine which solution would be best, because the convictions he has, for the most part, are the convictions he adopted as a part of the south side pact. I believe he is just realizing this after watching him on the Saddleback forum. He umms and uhhhs constantly, and hardly ever gives a straightforward answer. For him, there are always angles, and danger around every corner for a misspeak. Why? Because Obama has not thought through many issues, and does not have the experience to make crucial decisions quickly. On the south side, he didn't have to. His party thought as one, had one political agenda. They ran the south side. There was no opposition, no alternate view, or very little of it. He is in over his head, and I believe he is feeling this a little now. Not enough experience is an understatement. Before this he was just running with the crowd, and it was easy. Now he is running against a certain crowd. Different ballgame. He just hasn't served enough time, or been away from the south side machine long enough. Believe me, it takes years to wash the dust of that place off your feet.
And I have to add that McCain being born on a military base, outside the shores of the USA is a lame point for any opposition. It is really just plain silly, and those who would try to use this as to compare the legality of Obama's birthright, is either scared that Obama ISN'T legally a citizen, or not very bright. As far as McCain's "treason" while being tortured, and help as a POW for 51/2 years, I'll take that any day compared to Obama's total lack of self sacrifice. At least McCain understands the meaning of sacrifice and the real cost of freedom.

Thanks for this post Bob. I wish I weren't gone all the time, and I sure miss everyone here. I'll stop by when I can. God bless.
I'm sorry. I'm not able to rationally identify with individuals who hate all members of a particular religion. It's a fault of mine. I'll leave you to your blog.
I'm sorry, but I think you are misguided. Whom are you speaking of? I certainly do not hate all individuals of any particular religion or faith. I do however hate certain religions in their propensity for violence and murder, and those followers of said religion who ignore, support or aid in the violence of their brethren. There is a difference.
